BDSI Giveaway!

I always love the day after Christmas.  I try to take it as a vacation day every year, just as a “recuperate” day for me from all the stress of getting everything ready for the holidays and a time for reflection on the year.  A few years ago, Sandy at Quilting for the Rest of Us started a new tradition called “Boxing Day Sew In” aka #BDSI on twitter.  This has become a new tradition for me and something I look forward to every year I can participate.  I made sure to keep my schedule light this year so I could play along!

This is the first year though that I’ve participated in the giveaways!  It’s a fun way to give back to all my twilty friends that I follow throughout the year.  I wish I could “chat” with you more regularly during the day, but the job doesn’t allow for that, lol.

So, I’m trying my hand at the Rafflecopter giveaway and will give this Glace’ Honey Bun from 3 Sisters for Moda to one lucky winner!  I think I have just about all of their fabric.  I might like them ALMOST as much as I love Bonnie & Camille…almost, lol.  To enter, all you have to do is leave me a comment telling me what your favorite Christmas gift was…quilty or non-quilty…doesn’t matter.

The giveaway will remain open until midnight 12/31.  Thanks for playing along!  Be sure to check out the linky party that Sandy is hosting as well for other giveaways here 🙂

  1. The only Christmas gift I’m getting this year is still at IKEA :))) But that will be my favorite for sure! I’m getting a new wardrobe for my sewing room to finally be able to put all my stuff away behind doors. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. Lori, I actually have two favorite moments…….is that allowable? First was a gift of a mini Schnauzer from my daughter. He is only 5 weeks old so I won’t be able to take him home for a while. His “call” name is going to be Tucker. I had to put my 11 year old Schnauzer to sleep 1 1/2 years ago and it has been tough living without that love.

My second exceptional moment was when my 21 year old grandson told me that the reason he loved the Miami Dolphin themed quilt I made for him was because it was part of me that he could keep forever. Doesn’t get much better than that.

    • Oh Helen!!!! I must have pictures of Tucker when you get him 🙂 Vicki told me of your older Schnauzer and he sounded so special. I want to see pics of the Miami Dolphin quilt 🙂

  3. It sounds Sappy Mommy but my favorite Christmas gift was that both kids were able to be home for the holiday, and DS has today off as well, so he is coming over again with some friends this afternoon for a game day. I’m making soup for dinner so it’s a casual day all around. And yes, I’m actually getting some sewing in–another gift! Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. My favorite gift is a necklace that says “Love” that my daughter had made on Etsy. The word “love” is in my Mom’s handwriting-she died six years ago, so this is really special to me.

  5. My favorite gift? Being with family and seeing my son’s face when Santa brought him exactly what he wanted! (A train table – mommy and daddy bought the train sets). Also, I’m 6 months pregnant, so nothing can beat that! 🙂

  6. My favorite wasn’t really a Christmas gift since I bought it for myself because of a deal they had, but I got it a week or so before Christmas, so it can count, right? I got a gift certificate to a local quilt shop. I’ve already decided to use it to for a class in the new year. I can’t wait!

    • LOL Erin! I “might” have done something similar with the Quilt Bear and the 12 days of Christmas 🙂 Mary Jo even sent them beautifully wrapped so I put them under the tree to me from Scarlett (my sewing machine). My husband just about died laughing….

  7. My daughter gave me some awesome buttons! Love them, can’t wait to use them on projects. 😊

Both my kids home, hubby here, fire in the woodstove, lights on the tree, good smells from the kitchen, lots of laughter….. Was a great Christmas.

  8. This is the first time I have visited your blog – love it! My favorite gift were the heated gloves I got. I have Raynauds caused by Schleroderma and am an avid runner. Living in Chicago, I have often been relegated to the treadmill (yuck!) during winter because of danger of frostbite. The heated gloves have allowed me to continue running outside. Running along with quilting are my avenues to sanity! My DH is awesome!

    • What a great idea Julie! I’m very familiar with schleroderma in dogs, but not in people. I’ve just been trying to get started with a running program so I may have to pick your brain. Thanks for visiting the blog. I don’t get to post nearly as much as I would like as work keeps me busy 🙂 Chicago huh? We’re practically neighbors! Are you going to IQF in June? I’ll be there with my mom again 🙂

  9. The best present was the Garmin Navigator that my husband bought for me a few years ago. I no longer worry about becoming lost! I can find the quilt shops without getting lost. I can get home from wherever I am! It has been the best thing for this directionally challenged gal! 🙂

    • LOL, Sherri…I share your direction challenge! My husband just rolls his eyes. Would be lost (quite literally) without the GPS on my phone and in my car.

  10. Hello … planning to surf thru your blog as I have not done so recently…. My hubby and I do not exchange gifts as we tend to buy what we need and want as we go. I gave my daughter a computer this year which she did not expect. She is just finishing senior year in college and is student teaching… I loved the look on her face. I also liked playing rock em sockem robots with my Grandson.

I think having HEAT this Christmas after 4 days without and being in my own home for Christmas day was my best present… nothing like family and home.

    • Isn’t that the truth? We got my mom an iPhone this year so she can text and FaceTime with us. The look on her face was priceless 🙂 It will be a learning curve for her but I think she’ll love it. I just added it to my plan since she’s struggling financially so that was most of the present. I love rock’em sock’em robots! We played that with the nephews on Christmas too! Mason is into Ironman this year so we did lots of Ironman hand moves too lol. There are pics on my FB page if you want to see them. Glad your heat is back Nonnie!

  11. My gift was being able to spend the day with both of my parents and my siblings and all of the nieces and nephews. This was the first year in many the everyone was able to attend, we always seem to have at least one person out of town or working so it was a real treat.

  12. MY favorite gift was the coat my 18 year old gave me, because she noticed I only ever wear a light jacket. What an angel.

  13. My favorite gift was a complete surprise from my husband. I was apparently on a kitchen kick this year, and he got me the food processor I’d been wanting and needing. What shocked me was the last gift I opened, a power juicer! I’d been wanting one for a long time but figured it was too expensive and not a necessity to make it to the top of my wish list. I am so happy he thought of this. It made me feel good that he pays attention, which is an even better gift!! 🙂

    • Wow Beth! Those juicers look awesome 🙂 Which one did he get you? You’ll have to let me know what you think. DH should be on the “nice” list from now on LOL

  14. My favorite this year was the photo my daughter gave me. I had mentioned that all I’d really like from her was an 8 X 10 portrait for the top of the piano since it had been awhile since she had one taken (other than at her sister’s wedding last summer. When I opened my gift there was a beautifully photographed and printed photo of her making a hilarious face. The real portrait was underneath, but until i get another frame, I have the funny one on the piano.

    • We did that with my folks this year. They decided to stay in Florida for the first time and so we used FaceTime. Certainly not the same, but it was wonderful to see them just the same 🙂

  15. I haven’t opened anything yet — doing family Christmas on Saturday this year because of logistical stuff (my stepdaughter & her fiance have three sets of parents between them, so it kind of alternates every year where they go on Christmas) and so we’re holding off on the whole gift exchange until then since it’s more fun to do it all at once. But it so happens that I went to Ikea with Santa last month and picked out a new desk chair, which I’m so excited about. I work at home, so I spend a lot of time at my desk, and my old chair is a mess (among other things, the height adjuster is stuck with the seat just slightly lower than I’d like it to be). The new chair is beautiful (it’s red, my favorite color) and comfy, with a mesh back which should be much cooler in the summer then the old chair is. I’ll be so thrilled to get it set up and start using it 🙂
